Which are some of the most under-rated Bollywood movies?

Bollywood had produced some gem movies but they went unnoticed, reason can be not casting any big star or not produced under a big banner etc. Here are my personal picks of most underrated Bollywood movies.

1. Masaan: one of the finest movie ever made in Bollywood. Actors like Vicky Kaushal, Shweta Tripathi, Richa Chada and Sanjay Mishra are worth appreciating. It is not a typical masala movie but has some great content which movies buff shouldn’t miss.

2. Shahid: One of the best and inspiring movie. Based on real incidents. We need movies like this which stand closer to reality.

Speaking about the character shahid, Rajkumar Rao was exceptional and excellent on portraying shahid on the screen.

The character shahid stays in you even after the movie.

3. Dev D. A very refreshing movie from the usual Bollywood flicks, underrated in many aspects. Abhay Deol acting is superb and underrated, Kalki's debut is too good! The cinematography is mind-blowing, shows a very realistic character development with its own subtleties and indeed a brilliant take on the modern Devdas, one who is submerged in a sea of debauchery yet comes to awareness of its consequences.

4. Paan Singh Tomar: The movie told everyone what Irfan Khan is capable of doing. He power-packed and unmatchable performance astonished everyone out there. A sad tale of a great athlete who was forced to become rebel due to circumstance.

5. A Wednesday: Excellent screenplay and storyline by Neeraj Pandey! Undoubtedly, he's one of the best filmmakers in Hindi Cinema. He is a man of parts who knows how to make an audience gripped to their seats for around 3 hours. And, this is his first movie. It doesn't matter how many times you've watched it, you will always be able to watch it again. The dialogues have such a magnificent impact that you'd be able to remember them throughout your life. Naseeruddin Shah had given an outstanding performance.

6. The Lunchbox: Movie revolves around how a lunch box is being delivered to a wrong person who’s wife is dead and he spent his life solaced. When the women who prepare lunch who came to know this fact she begins to write letters to the person who is getting the lunch box and gradually they felt for each other. A well made incomplete love story which will grip you throughout the whole movie.

7. Udaan: A Phenomenal Movie. Casting, Screenplay, Acting, Music Is Top Class. Storyline Of The Movie Is Also Immersive. This movie Tells You To Think Out Of The Box And Achieve Your Dreams. As One Of It's Song Lyrics Is As Follow - " WO DIL KI KARE NA DARE" Means Listen To Your Heart And Don't Be Afraid Of Anything.

8. Maqbool: It's like a treasure with gems like Nasir Sahab, Om Ji, Pankaj Ji, Piyush Ji, Tabbu, Irrfan all together ..thanks to Vishal Bhardwaj for this movie. Iran is done exceptionally well. The movie is based on a play of Shakespeare's Macbeth. One of the best crime thrillers.

9. Aligarh: A greatly directed film by Hansal Mehta, a career-best performance by Manoj Bajpayee, the film shows a great deal of realism and criticism faced by Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra after the sting operation incident. The film makes you think that is it really a crime for someone just because he is who he is?

With greatly written screenplay and heart touching background score this film is sure to win your heart.

10. Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2: Last but not the least these both are my all-time favourite movie which also went underrated. The actors in this movie are epitomes of great acting like Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddique, Pankaj Tripathi, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Raj Kumar Rao etc. Directed by one of the best director Anurag Kashyap with ultra-realistic cinematography is praiseworthy. It is the best revenge saga ever made in Bollywood. No Bollywood movie would ever take it place.
